The country of Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe (after Russia). Its total area is 603,700 sq.km. Ukraine is located in the Eastern Europe and neighbors with Russia on the north-east, Belarus on the north, Poland and Slovakia on the west, and Hungary, Romania and Moldova on the south-west. The population counts 46 million people. The country is visually divided by the Dniper river and also has access to the Black Sea on the south and the Azov Sea on the East. Ukraine is famous for its picturesque landscape, it has the famous Carpathian mountains in the West and the Crimean mountains in the south. The country has 24 regions and an Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The climate in Ukraine is mostly temperate continental; however Mediterranean climate is in the southern part. The capital of the country is Kiev ‚ one of the largest cities of the country. The official language is Ukrainian, however, Russian language is widely spoken and is a second language for Ukrainians.
